#SlowSaturday – Slow Adelaide Hills Shiraz 2014

Slow day? Slow Saturday? Slow weekend? It’s dreary and cool and slowsatlazy and hazy so I’m tipping the couch is cozy and the lounge room is HQ this weekend. All you need now is a #TickityBooAce glass of sumthin-sumthin in your hand.

To follow the memo, the Slow Adelaide Hills Shiraz 2014 will surely complete the brief. Supple blackberry and mastertock notes on the nose are followed up in the palate with more blackberry, white pepper and marzipan. A very complete wine that is in no rush whatsoever and is always just $15.

Domaine Lucci Adelaide Hills Red Sans Sulfite 2015

lucciAucun soufre, Kein Schwefel, Senza zolfo. However you say it, Sulfur free wine is hot and so now. NOW. Yes, No added sulfur is all the buzz right now with wines all about freshness and light drinkability all without the next day sulfur driven headache (no guarantees after the 4th bottle though).

The Domaine Lucci Red 2015 is all of that and more without the stink and falling over trick a lot of no added sulfur wines can deliver. This is a real wine. The nose starts out with an almost unfermented grape juice waft, but after a while opens up with a very savoury, almost tapenady aroma. The palate opens up with bright cassis and earth and like the nose, leans more to the savoury path to wards the end of the glass.

Wine. It’s a living thing and with no added sulfur is very much living on the wild side. Get in early though because this wine is here for a good time and not a long time and is $23 always

Here For A Good Time, Not A Long Time – The Surrey Adelaide Hills Pinot Meunier 2014

Q: Where does the name ‘Meunier’ come from for Pinot Meunier?

A: Meunier in French means miller, or baker. The grape has a very fine bloom on it that it looks like someone dusted it with bakers flour. So Pinot Meunier it is.

I only just saw this wine two days ago and I knew I had to get it in to the store. They only make about 100 doz, so as it says up top, here for a good time, not a long time.

The wine shall we; looking at the glass the wine, The Surrey Adelaide Hills Pinot Meunier 2014  appears to be quite dirty. This is due to no fining or filtering so one for the vegan’s I guess. The nose throws a lovely elegant perfume of musk, rose petals and subtle green cap from the 50% whole bunch press. The palate opens up where the nose left off with crunchy green cap, musk stick and spice notes. Just a ripping drop.
